Birch Trees - Girl's Night Out
These ladies learned some layering techniques and each one chose there own tools and colors. We began with "pulling" the paint to load the canvas with color. We then used sgraffito (a form of decoration by scratching through the surface so the colors underneath are revealed). I showed them various tools to "print" or "stamp" with on the third layer, and we used other tools to stencil on the 4th layer, all the time repeating and clustering the images to create a rich layered look. We used wet paint to "drip" in a controlled fashion on our last layer. You can see some YUMMY colors and textures in these backgrounds!! The trees were painted after our glass of wine....and the bark was "swiped" horizontally.
Lots of fun for all!!! And they all turned out so unique!
